Number Four (Nashville Area Newborn Photographer)

This sweet little guy is only 4 days old and the 4th boy for his wonderful parents. It was such an amazing privilege for me to get to hang around such an adorable little guy! This was my first official newborn session and I learned soooo much! The primary thing is that newborns, even when they are only 4 days old, have a mind of their own. Taking these sweet pictures is not as easy as it looks! This little man was very passionate about being held, especially by his Momma! I had thought that once he was asleep we would just be able to pose him any which way I wanted. Not true! This guy knew almost immediately that he wasn't being held and let us know within seconds what he thought! I had very little time to get each shot before he woke up and expressed his displeasure. However, I am incredibly pleased with the shots I got and even more pleased that we managed to get the shots his Momma wanted! She really wanted shots of him outdoors and baby was much more cooperative outside than in.
When baby is a little older and Momma is getting a little more rest, I can't wait to get pictures of the whole fam, including the three older brothers!

More Beach Pictures

I am trying, trying, trying to get caught up on all my blogging!
Here are my favorite subjects (only because I am related to them :) playing at the beach on our family vacation. I do have to say that taking pictures of children you are related too is the hardest thing I do photo wise. They just don't have any respect for the photographer! Especially this little boy! He refused to cooperate on this trip, giving me withering looks whenever he sensed the camera was on him. I only got a few of him that I am somewhat happy with. The little princess did a bit better. I am sure her contempt for my work will come soon! Here are a few of my favs from the trip:

6 Months at the Beach! (Nashville Children and Family Photographer)

A few weeks ago my family and I headed out to the beach in Isle of Palms, SC. It is one of my favorite places! We met some dear friends of ours there. Their little girl was 6 months old at the beach so we thought there was not a more perfect place to shoot her six month pics! She is so photogenic so it doesn't take much to make this little one look good! I did learn something though: If you put a six month old down in the sand, they will immediately eat the sand, without stopping until you pick them up and take the wad of sand out of their hands. The fact that it probably doesn't taste really good doesn't seem to deter them in the least. So we didn't get a lot of pics with baby sitting on the beach but we had fun anyway!

First Maternity Shoot (Nashville Children and Family Photographer)

Recently, I had the pleasure of shooting my first maternity shots. This couple was so fun to work with and had me laughing the whole time. Many of the pics I took were out of focus, I was laughing so hard. Despite it all, I managed to get some that we all really like. This is their first child (a boy!) and really wanted the focus of the pics to be on the baby bump and not them. So that was the goal of the shoot. It was a lot of fun and I learned quite a bit which is always a huge plus!
